In his record he, too, mentions Michael, identifying him as a brother of Jacob Alspach who was born in Berks Co., PA., and was the first of the Alspachs to come to Ohio. According to Mr. Monroe, Michael and his brothers, John and Philip, soon followed Jacob to Ohio, and John and Michael settled in Bloom township in what is now Fairfield county in 1805. On this 31st day of October AD personally appeared before the Probate Court of the County and State aforesaid Eva Alspach resident of Fairfield County in the State of Ohio about 75 years, who being first duly sworn according to law, doth on her oath, make the following declaration in order to obtain the benefit of the provision made by the Act of Congress, passed on the 3rd day of February 1853 granting pensions to widows of persons who served during the Revolutionary War, that she is the widow of Michael Alspach who was a pensioner of the United States on the Revolutionary Rolls under the act of A.D. 18_ inscribed on the rolls of the Pension Agency at Cincinnati, Ohio at the rate of 160 dollars (she thinks) per year, for -------- of which facts, and also of his services during the Revolutionary War, she respectfully refers to the evidence upon which the said pension to the said Michael Alspach was allowed, and which is now on file at the pension Office at Washington. She further declares that she was married to the said Michael Alspach at Fairfield County State of Ohio on the 28th day of September A.D. 1834 by an Elias Perry a justice of the Peace, and that her name before said marriage was Eva Everett, that her said husband died on the 9th day of November A.D. 1836 at the county of Fairfield and State of Ohio that she was not married to him ----to the second day of January eighteen hundred but at the time above stated. She further declares that she is now a widow.

Saxton Man Killed as Mine Roof Caves In - Arthur Foor, 29, of Saxton was killed early yesterday morning when the roof of a small mine in which he was working near Coalmont caved in. The fatal accident happened at the Russell Thomas mine at 7:45, only half an hour after the man entered the mine to begin work. Vernon Geisel, Bedford County coroner, who investigated the fatality, said that Foor ws killed when a piece of rock 2 1/2 feet long by 16" wide and 8" deep fell from the roof right onto his head. He had been workinin the same section of the mine Monday. A brother, Charles, and a young man named Donaldson, both of Saxton, entered the mine with Foor but were some distance away from him when the cave-in occured. Mine officlas were notified immediately by Thomas but no information from them was available last night. Geisel said that an investigation will take place.
William Arthur Foor was born in Hollidaysburg, Nov. 23, 1921, the son of William Albert and the late Emma (Spahn) Foor. He was married to Dorothy Putt on April 17, 1943. Besides his father and his wife, he is survived by two sons, William A. and Larry G. Foor, both of Saxton. Also surviving are the following brothers and sisters, George Foor and Mrs. Vera Foor of Six Mile Run, Mrs. Stella Gelic, Mrs. Freda Johnson, Charles Foor and Mrs. Edith Reed of Saxton and Mrs. Mabel Evans and Mrs. Clara Berryman both of Neils, O. Funeral Services Friday, March 2 at the Saxton Church of God with REv. Amos Siple officiating. Burial in the Oddfellows Cemetery by the Huff Funeral Home of Saxton. Foore brings home national title
KINGSPORT, Tenn. -- Derek Foore won a national wrestling title over the weekend and was a member of the runner-up squad at the AAU Elementary National Dual Championships in Kingsport, Tenn.
The fifth-grader from Wadsworth took home the 119-pound title. He also contributed to a second-place finish by Team Jordon of Ohio, which was edged by the Pennsylvania All-Stars.

Foore set the school and county win record, totaling 170 wins in his career, including 92 pins. He was a two-time Ohio National team member, AAU National Champion, state Greco Roman and Freestyle champion and also earned a Gold Disney AAU ranking. A three-time Akron Beacon Journal All-Star, Foore won 16 high school tournaments in his career and was the Sun Newspaper Wrestler of the Year.

OBIT: Mrs. Katie S. Foor, widow of the late Robert H. Foor, Everett, R. 2, died at the home of her son, William Foor, Saturday. Mrs. Foor was born in Snake Spring township, March 24, 1867, a daughter of Rev. W. S. and Mrs. Sarah (Snowberger) Ritchey. She was united in marriage with Robert H. Foor Sept. 14, 1890. Surviving children are William L., Sara, wife of Clair Hoffman, and George A. Foor, all of Everett; and Glen H. Foor, Canyon Texas. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, a brother Isaac S. Ritchey, Bloomfield, Ind., and four sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Bollman and Mrs. Roy Miller of Everett, Mrs. H. H. Funk, Philadelphia, and Mrs. D. I. Pepple, Woodbury. Mrs. Foor was a member of the Everett church of the Brethren. Funeral services were conducted in the Everett church of the Brethren, Monday afternoon with the Rev. Isaac Wareham officiating. Macy, Ind., Feb. 2 -- Joseph C. SAMPSEL, aged nearly 78 years, a well known farmer, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Minoah TRACY, west of town, Friday morning at 4:00 o'clock, after a two weeks illness of pneumonia.
He was the son of Henry and Sarah SAMPSEL and was born near Trenton, N.J., May 26, 1839. In 1865 he came with his family to Indiana and located on a farm north of Macy. In 1863 he married Miss Minerva HART, and to them seven children were born. Those living are J. C. SAMPSEL, Mrs. Ella McCARTER and Mrs. Minerva BOWERS, Kokomo and Mrs. Rozilla TRACY, Macy. His wife died a year ago, and he also lost a brother, Henry [SAMPSEL], and a sister, Mrs. Charity FELLERS, a year ago.
For years he had been a member of the Macy Christian church and a member of the I.O.O.F.
