ONLY ASSUMING AT THIS TIME THAT Jane is the mother of Elizabeth. In William Baird's death certificate (her grandson) it said his mother's maiden name was Smith, leading me to believe that the Jane in the 1850 census may possibly be Elizabeth (Smith) Baird's mother.

"Mr. Roller married in 1904 Miss Gertrude BOYER, a daughter of Marcus and Sarah Boyer, of Bloom Township, her parents being engaged in farming there. ...her paternal grandfather was Daniel Boyer, who married a Miss Showalter". "History of Fairfield County and Representative Citizens", Charles C. Miller, 1912, p 570.
NOTE: Daniel and Margaretha's children, Marquis, Mary Ann and Wilhelm, were
all baptised on the same day. An entry in the church book listed right before their entries was for a "Margaretha Boyer", born 13 Apr 1816, also baptised on the same day, and ALSO listed as a child of Daniel and Margaretha. A notation in the book says that her birth year was crossed out. My theory is that the entry for Margaretha is actually the mother who was then also baptised the same year as her children.
Daniel and Margaretha were also sponsors for a person named Martha, born 02 Jul 1834, baptised 23 Dec 1843. No name of parents or last name for Martha are shown. June R. Grove of Dover, PA wrote...
"Your website as it relates to Fairfield County, OH is fascinating. Here is an excerpt from our new book: "The Runkle Family of Fairfield County, OH" which may shed a little more light on the subject. These two Dubs ladies are the daughters of Oswald Dubs (ca 1720 in Switzerland to August, 1766 in York County, PA. Oswald Dubs was the first person buried in Wildasin's Meeting House Cemetery. A photo of his tombstone will be included in our new book. I've attended services (in German) at this church several times.
Oswald Dubs Sr. married in 1751, Salome Bowman, born February 24, 1722, the daughter of Henry Bowman and Catharine Darr. Salome's sister, Susanna Bowman, born September 8, 1732, married Johann Jacob Thoman and their two daughters married two brothers of Ludwig Runkle. I descend from this youngest brother, Jacob Runkle Jr. In fact, Ludwig Runkle's father married first, Anna Mae Dubs, sister of Oswald Dubs. She died in childbirth in 1751 and then he married our ancestor, Anna Maria Albright. So here is how all this relates to Fairfield County, OH:
4. Barbara Dubs (1755-1831) married Ludwig Runkle.
5. Oswald Dubs Jr. (1758-1845) married Margaret Thoman, daughter of Jacob Thoman and Susanna Bowman. Oswald Dubs Jr. served in the Revolutionary War. There is a plaque on his grave in Wildasin's Meeting House Burial Ground. Children of Oswald Jr. and Margaret Thoman are: Anna Mary Dubs married Joseph Sticks, Catharine Dubs married Jacob Sable, Sarah Dubs married Peter Mayer, Susanna Dubs (1783) married Henry Huber, John Dubs (1786-1851) married Elizabeth Rohrbaugh, Jacob Dubs (1787-1851) married Elizabeth Motter, George Dubs (1789-1848) married Susanna Myers, Daniel Dubs (1791), Maria Salome Dubs (1795) and Magdalena Dubs (1796).
6. Christina Dubs (1764-1820) married Adam Kramer and died in Canal Winchester, OH. Their son, Adam Kramer Jr. married Abigail Moore; their son Elijah Kramer, born April 24, 1835 in Canal Winchester, married on July 31, 1856 in Circleville, Pickaway County, OH, Susanna Goff (1834-1918). Their daughter, Margaret Kramer, born February 17, 1866 in Circleville, married James Alva Alspach (1864-1908), son of Benjamin and Catherine (Weller) Alspach. Margaret Kramer and James Alspach are the parents of Violet Kramer Alspach who married Samuel Luke Runkel (1901-1987), son of Rev. Samuel Loucks Runkel (see page )."

"Hannah, daughter of Frederick Swander, was born in Pennsylvania in 1805, and was brought by her parents to Fairfield County, Ohio, in 1806, at quite a tender age for a hard, long journey... Hannah married Henry Hall, who was born October 19, 1798. Mr. Hall was both a gunsmith and a farmer. He moved from Fairfield to Seneca County, in 1828... Mrs. Hall departed this life in 1868." Ancestry.com. History of the Swander family. Provo, UT. MyFamily.com, Inc.. 2004. History of the Swander family. Swander, John I.,. Tiffin, Ohio. T.S. Falkner and H.D. Pittenger. 1899, pp 85-86.
"Henry and Hannah (Swander) Hall, natives of Pennsylvania, former of whom died in 1881, aged eighty-two, latter in 1868 aged sixty-three, parents of Joel Hall (who was born on the farm where he now resides in Scipio Township in 1827), came to this county in 1827 and entered the land whereon he died." [History of Seneca County, OH, Chicago; Warner, Beers & Co., 1886]
From same book (p 977) JOEL HALL, farmer, P. O. Rockaway, was born on the farm where he still resides. November 10, 1827, son of Henry Hall, a native of Pennsylvania, who came to this county in the spring of 1827, and entered the land where lit, passed the remainder of his life, dying September 8, 1881, aged eighty-two years, ten months and nineteen days; he was a blacksmith, gunsmith and sickle-maker by trade. a very energetic man (there still remains on the homestead a portion of a wheel worked by ox-power, which he used in turning a grindstone and for boring gun barrels). Henry Hall made guns out of bars of iron; he made guns for the Indians and they camped on the farm and hunted; and he once walked to Pittsburgh, Penn., for a single tool used in making sickles; he was a consistent member of the English Lutheran Church; in politics was a Democrat; his wife, Hannah (Swander), also a native of Pennsylvania, died June 12, 1868, aged sixty-three years and five months; she was a member of a church. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hall were the parents of three children: Christine, Joel and Absalom. Having been reared a farmer, the subject of this memoir has always followed that occupation. He was married. March 10, 1864, to Miss Catharine Beck, who was born in Fairfield County, Ohio, December 1, 1831, and by this union are six children, five of whom are now living: Hannah, Daniel, William, Maryan and Andrew.

NOTE: The way this census taker did the township is a bit confusing.
Normally he would use quote marks if the person's surname was the same as the
entry above it. For this family, though, he rewrote the name "Runkle" for
Katharine, which is often an indication that they are not married but perhaps
sister and brother. He also wrote out "Andrew Gipson" making it look as if
Gipson is the last name rather than the middle name as I've seen in other
records. It's hard to differenciate as to whether some of the names he wrote
down were MIDDLE names, or LAST names because of the way he made entries.
