Sharp was not yet eight years of age when his father died, and he was reared by his mother and uncle Aaron Teegardin, a farmer of Pickaway county, with whom he remained until he was twenty-one years of age. In his home county of Pickaway, he married Miss Isabel Bailey. She was born in Madison county, Ohio, but at the time of their marriage she was living in Pickaway county. Her parents were Reason W. and Anna (Hoyman) Bailey, the father from Maryland and the mother from Ohio, and subsequently they came to Indiana, settling in Clay township. Here Reason W. "G. C. Flegel was born in Fairfield County, Ohio, Nov. 20, 1856. His parents, J. A. and L. A. Flegel, still reside in that county, in the village of Lithopolis. At the age of fourteen our subject left his home to fight the battles of life alone, and, following his inclinations, as a business chose that of railroading, beginning at the foot of the ladder by carrying water for the laborers along the section. He acted in this capacity but for a short time. Feeling he had a higher calling, he engaged in and learned the business of telegraphing. He took his first message at Marion, Ohio... April 21, 1881, he went to Chillicothe where he accepted the position of chief clerk of the freight office of the Scioto Valley railroad.... He married April 20, 1879, Jennie Allcut, of Fostoria, Ohio, a daughter of David and Sarah Allcut. To them have been born two children -- Elmer Woolcott and Nellie Hays. Ancestry.com. "An Ohio University junior from Fairfield county was killed and two other students injured Sunday in a one-car accident near New Marshfield, the State Highway Patrol reported. Dead is William Keith Snyder, 22, of Lithopolis, near Canal Winchester. He was dead on arrival at Hudson Health Center, death being attributed to multiple skull fractures and internal injuries. Treated at the university facility for multiple contusions of the body were his two passengers, Gary Rousch, 21, senior from West U nion, and Patricia Sage, junior from Brecksville. Patrolmen said Snyder, who became Athens County's third traffic fatality of the year, was driving east on Route 56 about 6 p.m. Sunday in a 1946 model car which had no top. About a mile west of the Route 691 intersection, the vehicle failed to make a left cure. As it's left front wheel dropped into a ditch, the car spun to the left and went off the roadway, the three occupants being thrown from the vehicle as it plunged into a ditch. Snyder, a resident of Sargent Hall, was a member of David Lutheran Church at Lithopolis. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Snyder, and a sister, Mrs. Anne Miller, all of Lithopolis. Arrangements for services and burial in Lithopolis are being completed by the Jagers and Sons Funeral Home. [Athens Messenger, Athens, Ohio, May 16, 1966]
