"John Calvin Foor of Friend's Cove, aged 43 years, died at the Timmins Hospital at 9:45 Tuesday night, Nov., 20, from injuries sustained while hunting near his home Saturday. Mr. Foor, in company with his nephew, Philip C. Foor, his brother Chester, and the latter's to sons of Altoona, had gone hunting shortly after donner on the property of his brother Charles, with home he resided. About 1:30 pm he was standing on a stump watching for a rabbit, with the gun beside him; the weapon slipped off, the hammer struck the stump and was discharged. Almost the entire charge of No. 4 shot, high-power shell, entered his right arm above the wrist, tearing the flesh badly. The wad struck him in the abdomen but that wound was not serious.

His companions were able to do little, as the wound bled profusely, but Daniel Foor hurried him to the Timmins Hospital, reaching here about a half-hour after the accident. At 9 o'clock Monday morning Dr. Timmins amputated the arm above, the elbow and, weakened greatly from loss of blood, a transfusion was, made, his brother Charles supplying a pint of blood. For a short time his condition seemed, improved but gangrene set in and he, passed away the following night.

John Calvin Foor was a son of the late Jeremiah and Hannah (Dull) Foor and was born in Friend's Cove on August 6, 1891. He was not married. For more than 14 years he had been engaged in the lumber business. Surviving are the following brothers and sisters:
Edward of Charlesville; Charles Foor, Mrs. Jane Mowry and Mrs. L Halleck Waltman of Friend's Cove; Franklin Foor and Mrs. Thomas Fry of Harrisburg, and Chester of Altoona.

The body was taken to the Mervine Funeral Home and later to the home of Charles Foor.

Deceased was a member of the Trans Run Church in the Cove, where funeral services will be held at 2.30 O'clock this (Friday) afternoon, Rev. R. V. Clemence of Bedford officiating. Internment in the cemetery adjoining.
