[7213] NOTE: I believe the date of death in this biography is wrong for Daniel, as I found him in 1850 and 1860 census's with the children listed in the bio. Believe the date is probably 1869.

"At the age of ten years he was brought to Ohio by his parents, who located in Fairfield county, and there he learned the carpenter's trade... " ".. the the union of Daniel and Elizabeth were born 14 children in the following order: Elisabeth, died in infancy; Amos, a retired farmer of Wells county, IN, Jesse, deceased; Abraham B., an old settler of Van Wert county, Ohio; Nancy, widow of Jacob Richmond, of Perry county; Christine, deceased; Moses, deceased; Jeremiah, farmer, of Licking county; Henry K., farmer of Perry count;, DeLeslie, who died in infancy, Samuel, farmer of Perry county; Joe, reform minister, of Illinois; Sophia, wife of John Castanian, farmer of Wyandot county, and Daniel, who died in infancy. After his marriage Daniel Alspach settled in Jefferson township, Fairfield county, where he followed his trade as carpenter until 1825, when he bought a farm which he cleared up from the woods and resided on for five years; in 1830 he sold and moved to Perry county, and on this he made his home until his death, which occurred April 5, 1839; his widow survived until June 21, 1878...", "A Portrait and Biographical Record of Mercer and Van Wert Counties, Ohio", A. Their child, Louis Jr., supposedly married Beckie Jeanne Hanley/Handley Nov. 19, 1966 in Portland, OR, and she was the d/o Nathan Earl RAZEY and Ruth Mary HANLEY. Information unsourced and not reliable.

Info on "OneWorldTree" at ancestry.com shows that Louis first married Nora Victoria Boyle 23 Dec 1913 in Arlington, Dutchess Co., NY, and that Nora was born 27 Apr 1892 in Toronto, Canada, and died Dec. 1914 in Stoneham, Middlesex Co., Mass. He then supposedly married in 1915 Helen Jane Boyle who was born 26 Nov 1887 in Toronto and died Dec. 7, 1974 in Bermingham, Jefferson Co., AL. The info shows that with wife Nora he had one child, Louis Jr., and with Helen he had one child, Nora M. Machlan. Other wives were "Cecille" and "Florence Oberman". The ages of the parents are correct, as well as birth locations. The only child who'd appear on both censuses is the "Rebecca A." in 1860, and the "Adda R." in 1870. Could she be Rebecca Adda?

1822 - Friedrich and Susanna Feller were sponsors for the baptism on March 24, 1822 of Samuel Feller who was born Jan. 16, 1882, and whose parents are listed as Friedrich & Catharine Feller. [It is possible that this Samuel was actually the son of John Peter Feller, Friederich's brother, as there is no known Feller family of "Friedrich and Catherine", and it IS known that John Peter Feller had a son Samuel. [3020] NAME/DOB: From "Churchbooks of the Betzer Union/Zion Reformed Church,
1817-1881, Bloom Township, Fairfield County, Ohio", Fairfield County chapter
OGS, 1994, p 7. Parents are listed as Peter and Catharine Feller. Name listed as "Mased" but believe it is Moses.

"Asuau" has a notation that says "twin". the sponsors for Asuau are Friedrich and Susanna Feller. For Mased, Johannes and Elisabeth Feller. I assume both the "Asuau" and "Mased" names were hard to transcribe from German, and probably are not accurate. I have no idea if these are male or female, and no baptism date was entered for either.

I am the grand neice of Frank and I am working on the family tree and having trouble getting any info on her. I don't believe they had any children. Frank was from Ky, but also spent time in Indiana/chicago area. Not sure where he may have met and married her. Any info you have would be appreciated.

[27933] Tombstone photo submitted by Carol Schleich to findagrave.com in April 2006
shows one stone with the name DOWNS at top. At left is James A. 1926-1978,
and on right is Leota J. 1924-1999.

NOTE: I could not find any "DOWNS" in the Ohio deaths searchable at ancestry.com, and no Leota Downs is listed in the SSDI. The only DOWNS who was born the year 1924 and died the year 1999 were three listings, all male. I searched on any Leota 1924-1999 and came up with Leota J. Michel, born 13 Aug 1924 died 09 Aug 1999, last known address of Columbus, Franklin Co., OH. I then found a Leota Josephine Michel with same dates, born in Columbus, Franklin Co., Ohio, resided there, died at home at age 74, father's surname HAVELY, mother's LANNING. Ancestry.com and Ohio Department of Health. Ohio Deaths, 1908-1944 and 1958-2002 [database on-line]. Provo, UT, USA: The Generations Network, Inc., 2006.

Leota must have married again after being widowed, but is not buried with the MICHEL surname. She is buried beside husband and shares his stone with no mention of MICHEL on it.

SSDI - name shown as Leota J. Michel, 13 Aug 1924 - 09 Aug 1999, last known address as Columbus, Franklin Co., OH.

HISTORY OF PICKAWAY COUNTY OHIO AND REPRESENTATIVE CITIZENS, Aaron R. Van Cleaf, Chicago, IL; 1906, pp 473-475.
"GEORGE PHILIP TEEGARDIN, one of the really successful business men of Ashville, prominent in all its commercial life, whose portrait accompanies this sketch, was born in Madison township, Pickaway County, Ohio, on July 11, 1848, and is a son of Aaron and Sarah (Hoy) Teegardin and a grandson of George Teegardin.

George Philip Teegardin received his literary education in the common schools of this county and completed his business education at the Lebanon Normal School in 1869. After leaving this institution, Mr. Teegardin clerked in the dry goods store of Dr. George L. Smith, late of Groveport, Ohio, for about a year and then entered into partnership with his brother, John R. Teegardin, at St. Paul, this county. This connection continued until 1878 when his health failed and he was obliged to return to the farm where he remained until December, 1884, when he went to Florida, where for two years he was engaged in growing fruit.

In 1886 Mr. Teegardin returned to the old homestead and in December of the following year resumed his connection with the mercantile business at St. Paul. His health continuing to be uncertain, he spent the winters of 1890, 1891 and 1892 in Florida. In the meantime, in 1891, he retired from business at St. Paul, trading his interests there for property in Ashville and remaining on the farm until 1894. For a short time thereafter he clerked for Teegardin Brothers in their hardware and grocery store at Canal Winchester, Ohio. Locating at Ashville in July, 1894, he clerked for a short time for Ward & Miller, previous to becoming a member of the firm of Ward, Miller & Company, grain dealers. This firm was succeeded by Rockey & Teegardin in the fall of 1895 and in 1897 the latter gave place to Ward & Teegardin. In August, 1902, he became the sole proprietor and successfully conducted his expanding business with the assistance of D. F. Taylor, who on July 1, 1906, was admitted as a partner, the firm now being known as Teegardin & Taylor. Aside from his business and domestic life, Mr. Teegardin is socially interested in Masonry, being a member of Lithopolis Lodge, No. 169, F. & A. M.; Walnut Chapter, R. A. M., at Canal Winchester; and Scioto Commandery, No. 35, K. T., at Circleville.

Mr. Teegardin has been twice married. First to Amelia Hoffhines, daughter of John and Jane '(Peters) Hoffhines, on the 24th of December, 1874. Four daughters were born to this union of whom only one is now living --Blanche, wife of R. W. Kraft, of Ashville. Mrs. Amelia Teegardin died September 10, 1886. Our subject's second marriage was to Anna Lilly, daughter of Edward and Louise (Frankenberg) Lilly, her father, who is of both English and German descent, being an attorney at Columbus. Three children--Curtis A., Sarah Louise and Bernice--all of whom are living, resulted from the second marriage."
