BROBST Adelia Rose (Hartley) Brobst, age 83, of Groveport, died Friday, March 12, 2004 at Fairfield Medical Center. Born October 21, 1920 in Ross County to the late Guy & Hazel Marie (Kinnamon) Hartley. A 1938 graduate of Walnut High School in Pickaway Co., she married Robert M. Brobst on January 21, 1941. She retired from Groveport Madison Schools in 1984, and was a member of Groveport United Methodist Church since 1951. She was a long-time member and President of Robert Dutro American Legion Auxiliary Post 486, and had been presiding judge of Madison Township Precinct A for many years. She was a firm believer in exercising your right to vote, and voted every year from age 21 through the election of March, 2004 from her hospital bed. Preceded in death by her husband in 1988, and step-mother Flora Hartley, she is survived by her children Linda (Charles) Mackie, Massapequa, NY, Karen (William) Allison, Thornville, John Brobst, Bremen, Gayle (David) Lewis, New Albany, David (Susan) Brobst, Groveport; grandchildren Charles (Doreen) Mackie, Scott Mackie, Jill (Robert) Fieman, all of Massapequa, Kimberly (David) Stepanek, Youngsville, LA, Kelly (Mark) Podkul, Greensburg, PA, Celisa (David) Finley, Brent (Alyssa) Lewis, all of New Albany, Justin Trago, Bremen, Paden, Kelsey, Hope and Lane Brobst, all of Groveport; 10 great-grandchildren; half-brothers Francis (Peggy) Hartley, Edison, Terry (Carol) Hartley, Rushsylvania; and half-sister Rebecca (William Lee) McMullin, Pataskala. Survived by his wife, Leverna June Hickle; children, Sandra Kay Hickle, Mary Lynn Harvey, Jack H. Occupation was attorney-at-law, not employed. He died of psyhcosis with syphilitis menesgo encephalitis with an onset of July 1, 1936, and malasia induced for treatment on August 22, 1936. Born Jan. 11, 1893 Fairfield Co., Ohio to unknown parents. The informant was Columbus State Hospital records. Buried in Zanesville, Ohio, Sept. 5.
1936 - L. M. Soliday Dies of Brief Illness. Leroy M. Soliday, 43, prominent local attorney and former prosecutor of Muskingum county, died at Columbus Thursday afternoon following an illness of but two months, during which time he had been in a serious condition. His home is on the National pike about six miles west of the city. Besides the widow he is survived by one son, Lowell, two daughters, Merriam and Esther, all of the home. His mother, Mrs. Emma Soliday, resides at Canal Winchester, where funeral services and burial probably will be held. Mr. Soliday was a native of Canal Winchester but came to this city 13 years ago when he associated with the late H. W. Kuntz inthe practice of law, later being elected prosecutor which office he filled one term. He received his degree in law at Chicago and for a time practiced in Columbus before coming to Zanesville. Besides hundreds of associates throughout southeastern Ohio where he was held in the highest esteem, he also leaves many close friends in this vicinity. Mr. Soliday was deservedly popular here where he had filled many speaking engagements because of his fluent oratory. [Zanesville Signal, Zanesvill, Ohio, Sept. 3, 1936]
OBIT: Leroy M. Soliday. Services for Leroy M. Soliday, 43, well known Zanesville attorney and former prosecutor of Muskingum county, were held Saturday afternoon at Central M. E. Church , with Rev. J. P. Lewis officiating. Burial was in Betzer cemeter, near Canal Winchester. Attorney Soliday died Thursday afternoon at a Columbus hospital following an illness of two months. His home was on the West pike. He was a native of Canal Winchester but had lived in this city 13 years. He served one term as prosecutor. He was a member of Central M. E. church and the I.O.O.F. lodge. Surviving are his widow, Anna; one son, Lowell, and two daughters, Miriam and esther, all of the home; his mother, Mrs. Emma Soliday, Canal Winchester, and a brother, Earl, also of that place.
