From corres. w/Bill Latta, 01/93: "My suspicion has been that he was the ch of Elnora, b out of wedlock and raised by her parents as their child. From what I've learned about Emma from you, then he could just as well have been her ch b out of wedlock... which could explain her not being 'close' to the rest of the family...".
Will of his 'father' mentions that Rolla is actually his GRANDson, like we had assumed. Who his mother is, yet, is a mystery. Theory is that he was born out of wedlock. It is believed that Nora (Elnora), dau. of Irvin, is his mother.
